Our staff of professionals has years of experience caring for families from all walks of life. Each comes to us because we are leaders in our profession, with dedication to service and professional integrity.

When we sit down with a family, our shared goal is to create a fitting, memorable and affordable service for their loved one. We offer them a wide variety of services and products, as well as a wealth of creative ideas and suggestions. Together, we'll design a memorial or funeral service that suits their needs now, and in the future. Families who come to us know that years from now, they will have deep peace-of-mind because in coming to us, they've done their best to honor their loved one.


Our History

 Arthur A. Bryan held several joint ownerships of funeral homes in Zanesville since 1940.  In 1965, he set out on his own, building a new funeral home facilitiy at the current location of 2318 Maple Ave.  With over 50 years of funeral directing service, Arthur died July 19, 1987

. Thomas A. Bryan, son of Arthur, gained ownership of the buisness in 1977 following his father's retirement, and continued the funeral home's operation.  In 1997, he sold the business and property to Carriage Funeral Services.  Upon his retirement, funeral director Dan Snider's name was added to the funeral home in 2006.  Dan had been with the Bryan family since 1984 and has served as the Managing Partner since 2004.

    Dan began his career as a Funeral Director when he graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1980, where he was awarded the Ohio Embalmers Award for Excellence. He decided on Funeral Service after working several years part-time at a local funeral home while working night shift full-time stocking shelves at a grocery store. Dan joined Bryan Funeral Home in May of 1984. Helping plan a special service of remembrance, customized to each families wishes is one of the ways Dan feels he can help families and friends memorialize their loved one. He feels a great deal of satisfaction when families tell him he has made this difficult time a little easier.

    Dan is the eldest of eight siblings. He married Charlotte M. Harkness on September 2, 1983. She was a nurse for over 30 years at Good Samaritan Medical Center and now works for Quality Care Partners in Disease Management. They are the parents of three sons Devin, Adam and Kyle. Adam enjoys working at the funeral home providing staff support.

    He enjoys spending time with his family and friends and traveling whenever possible. Dan and his family are active members of St. Nicholas Catholic Church where he is Chairman of Pastoral Council, member of the Mt. Olive Cemetery Committee and along with Charlotte are on the Grieving Committee and are Eucharistic Ministers. Dan is a member of Knights of Columbus, Central Ohio Lions Eye Bank, Ohio Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, Ohio Embalmers Association and Catholic Social Services Advisory Board. Dan and Charlotte are supporters of Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care by participating in the Zaney Follies for over 21 years. Charlotte is a member of the Board at Rambo Memorial Health Clinic.

    Ken graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1979 and was the recipient of the A.J. Nunnamaker award for the highest scholastic achievement and exemplary student citizenship. His interest in funeral service began at an early age, but did not manifest until after working as an EMT for a private ambulance company along side as a surgical technician during college.

    He has served Bryan & Snider Funeral Home for 25 years and enjoys the latest trends in funeral service. For him, the ability to customize a service unique to one's own life is both challenging and rewarding. He also enjoys the technology that allows us to create so many different things to provide this type of personalized service.

    Ken is married to Jo Ann (Dingey), who recently retired after a long career with the Social Security Administration. Together they have 3 grown daughters and 3 grandchildren.

    In his spare time, Ken enjoys outdoor activities such as boating, camping, fishing and campfires with friends and family. He has an extensive background and interest in community involvement such as, Scouting, Big Brothers & Sisters, and has served as treasurer and vice president of the Zanesville Sertoma Club. He was named the 2005 Sertoman of The Year by the Zanesville Sertoma Club. He also holds such professional memberships as the Ohio Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, Ohio Embalmers Association, and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science Foundation.
