W. Gilmore Coultas, 88 of  Zanesville died at 6:52am  Wednesday, April 02, 2014 at the Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center of Gahanna, Gahanna, OH. 
He was born on July 27, 1925 in Calais, OH the  son of the late Samuel D. Coultas and  Alice Daily Coultas.
Gilmore was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and served in the United States Naval Air Corp during WWII as a pilot where he earned the rank of Lieutenant JG.   He achieved an undergraduate degree as well as a Master's degree from OSU and also studied for his PhD at Muskingum College. Gilmore was employed for Zanesville City Schools as a Science Teacher for 39 years, served as President of Zanesville Retired Teachers Association for 7 years, was a Zanesville delegate to the OEA, President of Joe Berg Science and Math Foundation & served as President of the Zanesville American Cancer Society.     
The following was written by one of his grandsons:  Gilmore Coultas, seldom are people as genuine, caring, empathetic, or trustworthy as you were. You demonstrated love and sheer dedication towards your family and you inspired others to do the same. You led an exceptional awe-inspiring life; you took a great deal of pride in honorably serving your country, you worked countless hours to provide for your family, and you still found time to convey your affection towards your family. We love you ‘Pops’ and you will certainly be missed.
Gilmore is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeanette; Daughters Cindy (Randy) Brewer and Vicki (Joe) McCabe; Grandchildren Kelli (Mike) Shirey, Andrew (Cristina) Trotter, Zachary Trotter, and Collin Davis; Great Grandchildren Michael Shirey and Mason Trotter and beloved nephew Wayne (Vangie) Cunningham. He was preceded in death by his parents, a great granddaughter Nicole Anne Trotter, five brothers and a sister.  
Friends may call 2 to 5pm on Sunday, April 06, 2014 and one hour prior to funeral service at the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1pm Monday, April 07, 2014 at the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home with Pastor Mitch Reed officiating.  Burial with Military honors will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Donations can be made to American Heart Association or The Alzheimer’s Foundation.
