Take Back the Night
Wednesday, May 23, 2012 : 6:00 PM to 7:30 PMViolence against women and children will be the focus of "Take Back the Night," a special event being held at Ohio University Zanesville to acknowledge the issue of continuing violence. On Wednesday, May 23, men, women, and children from the area are invited to listen to speakers and attend a rally at Ohio University Zanesville from 6-7:30 p.m. in Elson Hall W110. Local agencies are invited to have tables at the event being sponsored by the Women and Gender Studies course at Ohio University Zanesville. Activities for the evening will include speakers, music, and dramatic readings. Speakers will discuss the local problems of violence, share readings of strength and empowerment, and give insights and ideas for empowerment. A Service Dog for Matthew
Saturday, June 09, 2012 : 5:00 PM to 9:00 PMa Benefit will be held at the MVP Sports Bar Saturday, June 9th at 5 PM. There will be Games, Food and Fun.
Matthew is a 6 year old boy who loves life, sports and just being a kid. He requires at least 4 insulin shots each day. Funds are being raised to purchase a servie dog (Stella) to assist with fluctuations in Matthew's glucose level.

Meet and greet Season Two Celebrities - March 2
Zak's Place Restaurant
10 local celebrities will be announced at a "Meet and Greet" event on March 2 at Zak's Place restaurant. Each celebrity will meet their Dancing Diva dance partner and select their style of dance routine and charity of choice.
The Dancing Divas are planning Season Two of this unique event to benefit local charities, entertain audiences, and promote the Dancing Divas' mission. The event is titled "Dancing with the Divas" and will be held July 21, 2012 at EagleSticks Golf Club (2655 Maysville Pike, Zanesville, Ohio).
Tickets are $25 and will be available for sale at Wade's Clothing (3546 North Maple Avenue) starting April 2. Tickets are by advance purchase only.
At the event on July 21st judges will select an overall dance winner, and awards will also be given for the popular vote of the audience and for the celebrity who raises the most money for their charity. Donations to each charity can be made at www.TheDancingDivas.com. In addition to celebrity dance performances, the evening will include hors d'oeuvres, silent auction, cash bar and social dancing.
Last year's event was a sell-out event with over 400 tickets sold and raised $20,000 combined for the represented charities. Zanesville High School Football Coach Jeff Tysinger took home the mirror ball trophy as the event winner.
