Alma “Bernie” Flagg Bowles, 90, of Zanesville passed at 3:09 P.M. Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the Brookdale of Zanesville.
She was born on Sunday, February 3, 1929 in Columbus, Ohio the daughter of the late William P. Chapman and Missouri Bell Pitts Chapman.
Bernie was a member of North Terrace Church of Christ and Rambling Roses. She and her husband would buy houses and then rent them to people. Bernie was an avid skier and was an artist at heart. Right out of high school, she worked at Rockwell.
She is survived by, a nephew and caretaker Tim (Kathie) Chapman; a stepdaughter Teresa (Joe) Neff; a brother Elvey Chapman, and many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bowles; her first husband Ed Flagg; a brother, Floyd Christopher; two sisters Mary Melvaine and Dorotha Sparrow.
Friends may call on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 11-1 P.M. at the Bryan and Hardwick Funeral Home where funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. with Larry Marshall officiating. Burial will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park.
