Clyde Edward Johnson, 91 of Zanesville died at 8:36 PM Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Genesis Health Care E.R.
He was born on Friday, October 14, 1927 in Zanesville, Ohio the son of Lewis Johnson and Myrtle (Ashmoore) Johnson.
Clyde was a WWII Army Veteran having fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He retired at the age of 72 after over 30 plus years’ service as a letter carrier with United States Postal Service. He enjoyed placing a wager whether it was on lottery tickets, horse races or anything he could bet. He also enjoyed traveling, watching sporting events and fishing.
He is survived by his 5 children; Gerald "Mike" (Amy) Johnson of Dresden, Danny (Michele) Johnson of Zanesville, Vickie (Jim) Wiggins of Zanesville, Terry (Krista) Johnson of Zanesville and David Johnson of New Mexico; 9 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren and a Great Great grandson. Clyde was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his wife, Elizabeth "Sally" Lucille Nelson Johnson; a daughter, Rita Jane Johnson; numerous brothers & sisters.
Visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home and also two hours prior to service time on Thursday. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Genesis Morrison House Hospice.
