Daphne Maud Bradshaw

February 17, 1926 ~ December 24, 2018 (age 92)
Daphne Maud Bradshaw (nee Cooper), 92, entered eternal life on Christmas Eve at Genesis Morrison House Hospice, having spent her final days surrounded by loving family and friends. She was born February 17, 1926 in Norwich, England, the daughter of Joseph Cooper and Florence Sneath Cooper. In addition to her parents, Daphne was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett "E.J." Bradshaw; a daughter, Judy (Don) Moody; and two sisters, Margaret Hooks and Gladys Aldys of Norwich England.

During WWII, Daphne worked at Coleman’s mustard factory in Norwich, England, and attended USO dances for the troops, where she met her husband, a B17 bomber mechanic for the United States Army Air Corps. In 1946, she boarded the Queen Mary along with her infant daughter and other “war brides” for the trip to America where she would spend the remainder of her life.

Daphne loved her homeland, especially trips back to visit family and friends. She loved raising her children, spending time with family and friends, watching soccer matches, and OSU football. She was also a Red Cross Volunteer at Bethesda Hospital for 26 years, and a member of the UMW Circle.

Daphne is survived by a sister Maureen (Brian) Greengrass of Norwich, England; a daughter Jo Israel of Zanesville, sons Jim (Laurie) Bradshaw, and Jack (Kathy) Bradshaw of Newark, OH; and daughter and son, Jan and Jeff Bradshaw, of the home. She is also survived by 2 granddaughters, 6 grandsons, 3 great granddaughters and 9 great grandsons, 2 great-great grandsons and 1 great-great granddaughter. Daphne also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews in England, and their families, as well as special friends the Dusenbery family and Fran Gray.

Friends may call Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Bryan and Hardwick Funeral Home 2318 Maple Avenue in Zanesville where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 31st, with Chaplain Rob Morris officiating. Private burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Morrison House.
