Ernest Raymond (Ray) Andrews, 89, of Zanesville, passed away at 7:14 PM Saturday February 10, 2018, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home.

He was born December 20, 1928 in Zanesville, the son of the late John J. and Mary Josephine Spicer Andrews.

Ray was a lifetime member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, a graduate of St. Nicholas High School and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired from Armco after 42 years as an inspector and was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.

He married the love of his life, Joanne (Wagner) Andrews, February 4, 1961. Ray was a loving, caring and wonderful husband, dad and papaw.

Surviving Ray are his wife, Joanne (Wagner) Andrews, sons: Thomas (Colleen) Andrews of Thornville, Timothy (Carrie) Andrews and Christopher (April) Andrews both of Zanesville, six grandchildren: Steven Joseph, Anthony Michael, Carly Rae (Darin) Fandry, Emily Marie, Nicholas Ray and Mary Josephine, four step-grandchildren: Stephanie, Kimberly, Nicholas and Joseph Schilling, 2 great grandchildren: Noah Ray and Nathan Richard Fandry, three siblings: Dorothy Andrews, Dave Andrews and Rita (Marvin) Walker, sister-in-law: Pricilla Andrews and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Ray was preceded in death by his five brothers: Paul, Lester, Dick, Bob and Mike Andrews, two sisters: Rosemary Fisher and JoAnn Paul, two brother-in-laws: Bill Fisher and Joe Paul, two sister-in-laws: Sally Andrews and Iris Andrews and several nieces and nephews.

The Andrews family would like to thank his special caregivers Shelly Winkle, Julie Richards, Hanna Courtright and caring staff of Genesis Hospice.

There will be no visitation observed. A private burial will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Father Martin Ralko officiating. A memorial Mass to celebrate Ray’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family request a Mass be said in his memory. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice or St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
