Lawrence “Larry” F. Murphy, 84 of Zanesville passed peacefully at 10:29 P.M. Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Genesis Hospital.
Larry was the youngest of 12 children, born on Sunday, August 29, 1937 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Ralph and Barbara B. Rock Murphy.
He married Mary Margaret Yerman, who survives, on August 1, 1959 and would have celebrated 63 years this August.
He was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church where he served as an usher and was on several church committees, including St. Vincent DePaul. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #505. Larry enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians, as well as camping with his family.
He retired in 2001 after 43 years as a salesman with Greif Brothers.
He is survived by Mary Murphy, three children, Sheila (John) Harper of Zanesville, Pamela (Todd) Mahle of Mt. Perry and Thomas (Amy) Murphy of Huntsville; six grandchildren, Chad (Yance) Fisher of Zanesville, Andrew (Amanda) Harper of Philo, Matthew (Mallory) Harper of Zanesville , Halie (Joe Richardson) Harper of Lorain, Christopher Murphy and Logan Murphy both of Huntsville; six great grandchildren, Regan, Rylie, Kinley, Stella, Avri and Jett; two sister in-laws, Shirley and Betty Murphy; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his in-laws Margaret and Frank Yerman; siblings, Isabelle Zemba, Louis, Bernard, Raymond, Russell, George, Eugene, Francis, Paul, Catherine and Eloise Murphy.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 6, 2022 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Rev. JCP Sullivan officiating. Burial will conclude at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
