Susan Cameron Gormley, 77, of Chandlersville, died peacefully at her home on February 26, 2018. Susan was born in Zanesville, Ohio on January 2, 1941 to the late Henry Manoah and Virginia Moore Cameron. She was a 1959 graduate of Zanesville High School, and held degrees from Stephens College, Ohio State University and Ohio University. In August 1963, Susan married Joseph A. Gormley, with whom she enjoyed fifty-three years of lively and loving partnership marked by much humor and laughter.

Susan was a teacher and high school guidance counselor before focusing on raising her three children at Salt Creek Farm. A passionate supporter of public education, she volunteered at Chandlersville Elementary and served on the board of Franklin Local School District for eleven years. Gormley was active in Republican politics and a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children; Jane (Mark) Burwell, Joseph A. (Christi) Gormley III, and Sarah Gormley; grandchildren Holly Quinn and Joseph "Joey" A. Gormley IV; step-grandchildren Jade and Jared Burwell; a brother James “Jim” (Joan) Cameron and several beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband Joseph and her brother Richard Cameron.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Henry & Virginia Cameron Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Zane State College, 1555 Newark Road, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
