Marilyn Marlene Smith

Marilyn Marlene Smith, 84, of Zanesville, passed at 3:42 P.M. Monday, April 1, 2024, at her home under hospice care surrounded by her family.

She was born on Saturday, June 10, 1939, in Zanesville, Ohio the daughter of the late Hillard R. Norris and Ida Mae Hill Norris.

Marilyn was a member of First Christian Church in Zanesville. She retired in 2020 at the age of 80 after 40 years of service as a Hospital Staff Assistant at Bethesda Hospital. She was very involved with her church and enjoyed reading.

She is survived by her three children; Jamie (Tim) Mathie, Perry (Jill) Smith and Robin "Hoodie" (Wendy) Smith; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by a son, Lance A. "Hoss" Smith and a daughter, Sandra Sue Smith; five siblings, David Norris, Donald Norris, Doris Kennedy, Phyllis Norris and Hillard Norris Jr.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. with visitation one hour prior on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Gloria Wade-Dillon officiating. Burial will conclude at the Woodlawn Cemetery.
